Labor Time Markup Configuration
Overview
Some dealers prefer to apply a markup to labor times from third-party labor guides, such as Motors or Mitchell1. This is especially useful in scenarios where labor times do not account for real-world conditions, such as extreme weather or unexpected delays.
To support this, we now allow labor time markups from labor guides, just like we already do for OEM SRTs. This article outlines how to configure and use this feature.
How to Enable Labor Time Markup
- Navigate to:
Admin > Customize Your Data > Labor Time Markup - Select Labor Source:
Choose from available labor guide sources (e.g., Motors, Mitchell1). More sources may be added in the future.
- Set Markup Configuration:
- Labor Time Markup (%)
- Apply a percentage-based markup to the labor time pulled from the selected labor guide.
- Labor Time Rounding Options
- None
- Round to the nearest 0.1 hour
- Round to a .25 hour
- Round to .50 hour
- Round to the whole hour
- Labor Time Rounding Direction
- Choose the rounding behavior (up, down, or nearest), similar to how it's configured for SRTs.
- Click ADD SOURCE to apply settings.
How It Works
Once configured, the markup and rounding will be applied automatically to any operation retrieved from the selected labor guide (e.g., Motors or Mitchell1). The adjusted labor time will be reflected in the system.
NOTE: Once a labor operation is adjusted using markup, it will no longer be flagged as a Motors or Mitchell1 operation in the case details.
Integration Behavior
When the markup setting is enabled:
- The integration will check the selected labor guide configuration.
- It will apply the percentage markup to the labor time before displaying or storing it.
- This applies to the following integrations:
- Motors Integration
- Mitchell1 (V2)
- Additional Flow Integrations
Additional Notes
- This feature aligns labor guide handling with how OEM SRT markups are managed.
- Be sure to communicate internally before applying markups to ensure consistent labor estimates.
